Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in July. It was a shock and life changed overnight. However, I have always said that I will fight this and not give up from day one. I try to be positive and take each day as it comes. We’re so lucky to have such an amazing NHS and there are people in the world far less fortunate than me.
I’m a deputy head in a primary school and I love my job and my school. I was so worried that this would all have to pause while I underwent treatment. However, I have kept working and for now can enjoy being with the kids and the amazing staff at school.
Every Monday I go for treatment at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. I have to wait for an hour and a half for my blood results to come back. So I head over to Maggies Wirral Clatterbridge for a bit of respite from the clinical environment. Every Monday there are brownies, cake and coffee waiting. The volunteers are there with smiles and open arms to laugh, hug and listen. It gives you the strength to face the next three hours of chemo infusion with a smile and a sense of ‘I’ve got this’. Maggies provides patients, friends and families with an oasis from the clinical harshness of cancer. They provide joy, compassion and support.
I was asked to take part in Strictly Come Maggies while my chemo buddy and I were stuffing brownies in our faces and thought ‘why not?’…where’s Giovanni?! Although it took me a while to finally say yes, it was my son who finally pushed me and said “If you don’t do it you will regret it mum”. He knows me so well and so here I am!
I will be undergoing treatment during rehearsals and for the show, so hoping my energy will hold out to at least get a 7 from Shirley Ballas! If you are able to make any donation to support me and this amazing charity I would be ever so grateful. By donating you will help Maggies to continue to support the millions of people affected by cancer.
Thanks for any support you can give. Lots of Love Roz x
