I was a month into five months of chemo when one of the nurses mentioned that I might like to wait for my blood test results in the Maggie's Centre, rather than in the grim old chemo waiting room. 
I cried when I first walked into that beautiful building and was offered a cup of tea and the chance to talk about how I was feeling. I cried in there many more times over the next few months.
A safe, calming space where anyone with cancer can find both practical support and psychological comfort, Maggie's is truly a sanctuary.
