As many of you know, I'm not the world's most obvious cyclist. Until last year, cycling was a distant memory to me, something relegated to childhood memories and "other people's lives". However, as part of a fitness and health overhaul that I instigated at the beginning of 2016 (that I've written about extensively on my blog, www.weightexpectationsblog.com), I reacquainted myself with my two wheels, beginning a love story that is taking me to the city of romance itself, Paris.
I'll be taking to the roads with ma belle amie, my housemate and colleague, Amanda, as one half of our home-made bike club (the 4BC). We've taken on Brighton and Windsor this summer, but Paris is another beast entirely. We will need a lot of bananas, pain-au-chocolats and motivation from the wonderful people in our life.
I've selected Mind as the recipient of my fund-raising efforts because I want to support their efforts to improve access to care for those struggling with mental illness and to break down stigma. As many of you know, this is an issue very close to my heart, and one that I've spoken candidly about recently for a campaign with Adidas and Refinery29 (http://www.refinery29.uk/adidas-greater-every-run-video-rose). This goal will be as much a test of my mental resilience as my physical endurance, which will make it an even greater achievement!
Any support is appreciated, whether it is financial, emotional or nutritional! Thanks for reading.
