Richmond to Windsor · 22 September 2018

We are the Church of England parish church in Pitshanger, Ealing - we aim to be an inclusive Christian community that shares God's unexpected, joyful and life-changing hospitality with one another, our neighbours and those on the margins. Year-round community activities and welcoming church worship.

Story

A group of us our cycling from Richmond to Windsor in order to raise some much needed funds to support the Memory Cafe at ST Barnabas Ealing.  We plan to use the funds to purchase some new equipment to facilitate the running of the cafe including stackable tables and chairs, kitchen items such as table clothes and a barista coffee machine.

It is a sobering thought that there are an increasing number of individuals who suffer from dementia, Alzheimer’s or some form of memory loss.  Such a disability can easily lead to a loss of identity of self and others as the familiar becomes unfamiliar.  All to soon loneliness and isolation can become the norm.  At St Barnabas the Memory Cafe was opened a few months ago and is already impacting our local community supporting those suffering from memory loss as well as their carers. in order to meet the increased demand for this commendable community cafe, we need to purchase some more equipement such as tables, chairs and a coffee machine so that the cafe allows more people to spend time in fellowship in a non-threatening environment.  Memory games, music and song are only some of the activities that we will take place along with tea and cake. The cafe meets every thursday at 1130 to 1pm at St Barnabas CHurch. All are welcome.

Do you know of anyone with memory loss or who is a carer for someone with this disability? If so please let them know of this new initiative.

The Memory Cafe will be open in the church each Thursday from 11.30 am to 1pm, beginning on the first week of August. This will complement our Thursday Pop-In which will continue to run from 2.30 - 3.45pm in the large hall.
