In March, 4 years ago, we were told that our beautiful boy Sean had died whilst away at university. He was 21 and perfectly healthy - apart from having epilepsy. If it wasn't for epilepsy he'd still be with us today. So on March 11 I will take part in my first ever Half Marathon to raise funds for Epilepsy Action in Sean's memory. I won't be the fastest nor the most graceful but it will be my way of marking another year without him in a postive way.

Every day 75 people are diagnosed with epilepsy - one person every ten minutes. They are often scared and unable to find out what this will mean for them and their families. Every day in the UK there are 3 Epilepsy deaths, 1 of which is preventable.

Epilepsy Action is the largest member-led epilepsy organisation in Britain, acting as the voice for the UK's estimated 600,000 people with epilepsy, as well as their friends, families, carers, health professionals and the many other people on whose lives the condition has an impact.

As well as campaigning to improve epilepsy services and raise awareness of the condition, they offer assistance to people in a number of ways including a national network of branches, accredited volunteers, regular regional conferences and freephone and email helplines.
