Story
I am taking part in Trek The Rockies in 2022 in aid of Marie Curie Scotland.
Marie Curie are a charity that provide at home nursing care for people with any terminal illness.
The trek will involve trekking for five days in the Canadian Rockies, for approx 12 - 18 kilometres per day. The elevation will range from 100 - 800 metres. This will be a huge challenge for me as I've never done anything like this before and I'm not very sure footed!
So, why have I decided to do this?
As some of you may know, my mother passed away in 2016 and received amazing care and support from Marie Curie nursing staff. Being Deafblind, she would have really struggled with communication in a hospital setting. The care from Marie Curie nurses allowed her to stay at home with her family, fulfilling her wish and making her final days much more comfortable.
Not only did Marie Curie nurses support my mum, they also supported us as a family during such a difficult time. I don't know what we would have done without them and can't thank them enough.
By taking part in this trek I'll be challenging myself and giving back to such a worthwhile charity.
The minimum fundraising amount is £3850, at least £2199 of this money goes directly to Marie Curie.
Marie Curie need to raise around £15 million a year to support their services in Scotland.
I hope you'll donate to such a worthwhile cause and a charity so close to my heart.
Every donation helps, no matter how small, and is so appreciated. 💛 🌼
