Story
In January 2016, after spending Christmas with my parents, my mother was diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis. She was hospitalized for over 6 months and underwent several operations. Until today, we have no idea what strain of the bacteria she had but I am blessed and extremely lucky that she has recovered from the incident with minor impairments.
It was the toughest 6 months of my life, and it was definitely the hardest battle she has ever faced. We were lucky to have a support system throughout the process and now I would like to contribute to the cause by raising awareness and fundraising for a charity that will help battle meningitis and help those who have suffered it and are still suffering it as we did.
For me personally, I am doing this for my mother, who constantly asks me to get into shape and take care of myself so that I reduce the risk of being as vulnerable as she was when she had her incident. I am nearly 30 years old and obese, so for me getting to the finish line on November 10th will be a double achievement!
