In Memory of Nina Allen

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
My lovely mum returned from a trip away in October 2022 with my dad with pain in her back and stomach. She was proactive and booked a GP appointment for her mild symptoms but was admitted to hospital for a number of further tests. Sadly our families worst fears were realised as she was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable pancreatic cancer.
In the space of two short months, we tragically lost mum in December 2022.
Unfortunately, my family is not alone in this devastating experience as this is sadly a really common story with the disease. Out of those diagnosed, 3 in 4 will die within a year, and 1 in those 3 will survive less than a month. More needs to be done to improve the survival rates. We hope that my mum's memory may help to change this.
On the 23rd April, I’ll be running the London marathon in memory of my mum for Pancreatic Cancer UK. PCUK does amazing work and is dedicated to supporting people with pancreatic cancer, campaigning and funding vital research to transform the future.
This is an epic challenge and It’s definitely going to be tough (anyone that knows me, knows that I’m not a natural runner), but what my mum had to go through was bloody tough. This cruel disease is tough to diagnose, tough to treat, tough to research and tough to survive. All I have to do is get round those 26.2 miles and raise as much money and awareness as I can in the process.
It was my mums wish that any donations be given via this page. They will be HUGELY appreciated and will be in extremely helpful in facilitating this brilliant charities work.
Thank you all so much!
