Rosie's crazy year of activities!

Ironman Wales · 9 September 2018
Hello! Firstly a big thank you for visiting my page (even bigger one if you donate) :) I’ll try and keep this short and sweet! Back in September I had a crazy moment and decided to enter Ironman Wales (aahhhh). For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s basically a lovely day out involving a 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. Delightful!
If that wasn’t enough, I’ve also signed up (everything has been paid for by me including all the gear, no idea) for 10 (and still counting) ‘practice’ events throughout the year, as well as training 10-15 hours a week! As well as working full time as a zookeeper! Which brings me nicely onto the chosen charity. If you didn’t already know I’m crazy mad for lions, so only right that my charity is lion based!
The Safina Lion Conservation Fund is a fairly new charity, using the work of zoo lions to raise awareness and fundraise for their wild cousins. There main focus this year is to try and raise enough money to continue sponsoring a current Lion Guardian, called Longoi. Lion Guardians are an AMAZING charity which does AMAZING work by working with local communities to protect local wildlife. These people dedicate their lives to educate and protect these magnificent animals. With lion numbers declining by 41% over the last 21 years, there work is vital. One BIG problem is conflict with humans which these warriors try and resolve.
By donating to the Safina Lion Conversation Fund, 100% of money raised goes straight into conservation efforts. (James who set up the charity even pays for all the leaflets printed!).
Id love to try and raise enough money as possible so any donation is greatly appreciated! Plus something has got to get me around the hilly awful Ironman Wales course!
Thank you!
