Story

Help us to create a welcoming environment for those receiving ongoing mental health support in Swansea....

I am going to be running the Swansea half marathon with the
hopes of raising much needed funds to help create a more welcoming and positive environment within our mental health NHS service. The Local Primary Mental Health Support Services (LPMHSS) provide therapy sessions from our base in Central Clinic in Swansea. We are hoping to decorate and refurbish the rooms that we use in the hopes of bringing them back to life and to ensure that this supportive environment is welcoming, comfortable and calming.

In raising this money we hope to be able to add features to
the rooms including artwork, soft furnishings, posters and plants.
Our physical environment has a direct influence on our emotions and general wellbeing. Current research suggests that the physical environment of a therapy room can play an important role in individuals feeling comfortable and able to engage in support.

With your help we hope to be able to improve our working
environment and the experience of therapy for those struggling with their mental health.

Swansea Bay Health Charity is the official charity of Swansea Bay University Health Board. We aim to improve patient care by providing equipment, staff training, funding research and completing special projects which go above and beyond what the NHS is able to provide. This also includes the Southwest Wales Cancer Centre Fund.
