Story

Most of you will know about my friendship with the amazing Brian. We met three years ago and since then we have enjoyed over 100 hours of friendship. He is one of the most consistent friends in my life.

I introduced Brian to Nandos and he introduced me to the world of Midsomer murders! We laugh together, moan together and have shared a lot of G&T's together. This past year our friendship has taken place over the phone during really tough times, and I can't wait for the day for us to see each other in person soon.

Brian is a different person to the man I met three years ago, and this is hugely because of South London cares. The incredible staff there have been a huge support to him and to me. If Brian has an problem the first thing he knows to do is to call South London Cares- and he knows they will help.

SLC hasn't just been a huge support for Brian but for me too. They've helped me to feel more connected to my community. I don't have any living grandparents so didn't have relationships with older people before volunteering and now I do and I get so much out of these friendships. There have been so many times when I've been in a bad mood from a rubbish day at work but this is quickly forgotten when I am dancing with my older neighbours to Diana Ross at the Desert Island Discs social club, or laughing with Brian at his tales of being a pub landlord in the 70s.

If you can please donate to my page to go towards SLC's amazing work. You can learn more about what they do below:
