Campaign by University of Sheffield (RCN HMRC Registered)
We need your help to bring the future of medical imaging to Sheffield.

Story

I am taking part in the University of Sheffield's Big Walk on 22 June.  The 26.2 mile route heads out into the Peak District and finishes on the University Campus.

The Big Walk is raising funds towards the Sheffield Scanner campaign, to provide a ground-breaking MRI-PET facility in Sheffield (the first in Yorkshire).

The scanner will transform research into a wide range of serious conditions including Cancer, Alzheimer's, Heart disease, Diabetes, Stroke and Parkinson's Disease, by increasing understanding of their causes, effects and development.

It will be located at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, and will enable doctors to assess conditions more accurately and precisely to improve patient care and survival rates.

The Sheffield Scanner campaign has so far raised over £1.2 million towards the £2 million needed to fund it.
