Romsey Young Carers is a registered charity operating in Romsey and Southern Test. Young carers are children and young people who have a caring role within their families; this may be doing physical tasks or the emotional support of other family members. There are a variety of reasons why a family member may need extra support - physical disability, mental health problems, life-limiting conditions or bereavement. RYC receive no statutory funding and are dependent on fundraising to continue our programme of activities that allow the children respite from their caring responsibilities. The regular weekly clubs, climbing and sailing courses, residential trips and outings all offer them an opportunity to be a child rather than a carer and are vital to them maintaining a positive outlook under difficult circumstances, building resilience and learning to look after their own wellbeing.
