Story
Welcome to my 62 Miles in October challenge page for Diabetes UK.
In June 2023, after not feeling like myself for months, I was rushed into hospital with the diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes. It’s not something that I talk about much but wanted to fundraise to support Diabetes Uk and their work.
Type 1 Diabetes is a life changing chronic auto immune disease which is essentially where your pancreas has just decided to pack up on you and does not produce any insulin! This means that my day consists of multiple insulin injections, blood sugar checks, correcting high or low blood sugars and monitoring exercise activity. Pretty much a 24/7 Job 365 days a year.
Whilst there are great charity’s and research organisations out there like Diabetes Uk working hard to help those with the condition, there is currently no cure for Type 1 diabetes! This means that any amount of donation and support can hopefully go towards one day finding a cure! This is the main reason as to why I wanted to fundraise and complete this challenge.
So with the help of Luna joining me on many of my walks, I will be completing the 62mile challenge throughout October, and updating this page with my progress for each walk I complete.
Support my challenge by hitting the Give Now button on my profile page.
Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
