Story
I am a virgin marathon runner.
On Sunday 26th April I will be taking part in the Virgin London Marathon running 26.2 miles. I will finish the race, and I have set myself the challenge of running under 4 hours.
It doesn't get much bigger than the London Marathon. This race is loved by both elite athletes and running novices. The course offers a complete sightseeing tour of London - not that I will get much chance to take in the views!
I am running for a reason. I am running for the Bobby Moore Fund. Whatever your donation, big or small – your support will spur me on in my training over the coming months.
Training for a marathon is one of the hardest things I have done. It takes commitment and time – precious family time. When the days are short, miserable and dark, your sponsorship will ensure I never miss a training session and spur me on to meet my target.
Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK. The Bobby Moore Fund was set up in 1993 by the late Bobby Moore’s wife, Stephanie after Sir Bobby died from bowel cancer aged 51.
Money raised for the Bobby Moore fund is spent on pioneering bowel cancer research carried out by leading scientists working across the UK. As an avid football fan and player I want to help the Bobby Moore fund by increasing awareness of bowel cancer, and more importantly finding a way of beating it!
