It is exciting to be involved in another challenge for Reverse Rett. This time I will be firmly on dry land and taking part in the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge. The team will be walking 100km non-stop along the trails of the Dorset coast. 

I am looking forward to another big challenge and pushing myself through the pain and suffering, so that one day our girls won’t have to suffer their pain from Rett Syndrome.

Supporting Reverse Rett has been a passion since my daughter Eliza was diagnosed in 2014. Eliza was a happy, healthy, content baby and developed normally until we realised at around 14 months that she was not reaching all her milestones. She went on to have endless tests and eventually was diagnaosed at age 3 with Rett Syndrome. Eliza will be 12 in May and we have gradually seen her condition rob her of many things that most children take for granted. Eliza can only walk very short distances and only with a great deal of support, she is unable to talk, she has little controlled hand function and is unable to feed herself or take part in many activities. Eliza has also developed epilepsy and has respiritory problems to contend with on a daily basis.  

The work the charity do to support medical research is vital to finding a better future for Eliza and all the others who suffer with Rett Syndrome. What started all those years ago as a hope, and dream, of a cure, is now closer than ever. The first clinical trials are underway to reverse Rett Syndrome – its huge news!! This is just what we have been waiting for. Now more than ever though, is the time to continue to support Reverse Rett in bringing a cure to our girls, whilst also supporting all the other emerging approaches to cure Rett and get them to clinical trials too…..lets help to make Rett Syndrome history for everyone.

I’m sure our legs will be sore and our blisters plenty, but
really looking forward to doing this as a team - the pain is only temporary for us!
