For those of you that don’t already know,  local friends have challenged their selves to complete the York marathon this October in aid of The Ross Smith Foundation. With a lack of running experience within the group the boys may not know what they are letting themselves in for. However, since signing up to the event in January the lads have shown their commitment to the cause, making sure they’re constantly motivating each other to progress.

The Ross Smith Foundation was set up to celebrate a wonderful young man and to keep his memory alive. The foundation is used to fund and help young people with cancer and their families, as well as supporting cancer research, grassroots football and other causes. Ross had an infectious personality and a smile that would light up any room. Everyone who knew or met him will already know just how great he was, and how much of a huge loss we all feel since he was sadly taken from us at the early age of 27 due to developing cancer.

With the majority of these local friends being close mates with Ross it only took a small interest into running a marathon before the idea materialised into an event which saw other friends join them in raising money for a great cause. Keep a look out for the lads and cheer them on in their local runs as they prepare themselves for October 2017.
