Rossdales Charity Bike Ride 2011
ACE (Animal Care Egypt)
ACE (Animal Care Egypt) is a small but busy charity which provides free veterinary care to working equids in Luxor, Egypt, sometimes seeing up to 5,000 animals per month. The charity also runs a local educational programme for children, ensuring that a legacy of knowledge, understanding and respect is left with future generations. This work not only directly improves the lives of each equid which passes through the clinic, it also improves the lives of the families and communities which depend heavily on their working animals.
ACE has suffered during the recent turmoil in the region, and at one point was forced to close its doors. During this time of upheaval the clinic was even looted by thieves. Then the enforced curfew in Egypt meant that ACE had to limit their work to just the emergency cases. Now that the unrest is over, the ACE centre in Luxor has re-opened to all cases, and is back on full operation! Since then the clinic has been busier than ever, with the vets reporting that they are seeing as many new animals to treat each morning as they used to see in a whole day. ACE is under huge pressure as many of the normal lines of supply have not yet been re-established following the major upheaval across the country, but as ever ACE turns no sick animal away. They therefore need our help now more than ever. Please help us to support the amazing work this charity is carrying out to help working animals in Egypt.
At Rossdales, we have already pledged our support to this charity through a project which sends one of our vets and one of our nurses to work with the charity for 10 days a year. More funds are always required to ensure they can continue their good work. Please help us reach our target.
