Virgin London Marathon 2015 · 26 April 2015 ·

Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.

Story

As you may now know while I was enjoying my dreamy life in Paris I signed up to be considered to run the London Marathon. Not really thinking I would be accepted. However I have been offered to run for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) who support people with sight loss.

This past year my Nan has lost her sight. It has been difficult for her - a very fit and healthy 89 year old! From buzzing with confidence to having to rely on others; listening to voices instead of recognising faces, using a talking watch, asking others to help with reading prices - all simple tasks that we all take for granted.

Nanna has had help and assistance to keep her independence and although it is heartbreaking both for her and our family to see the stresses and strains of sight loss (including eye injections and an operation) at the moment my nan is coping well and is THE bravest person I know!

So I am training to run all the way around the 26.2 mile course (and a practise half marathon in Reading too!)... and will be dedicating each mile to a special person to keep me going! Training is going well and is a good stress release alongside my final year at university. I've had a few small injuries already but I will be at the start line whatever happens!! It would mean the world to me if you could donate to this fantastic charity - the money helps future research as well as helping those with sight loss so any pennies will be much appreciated!!
