We shall be taking part in a Dragon Boat Race for charity along with around 20 other rowers. Crews of 16 paddlers (plus a drummer) race in Chinese-style Dragon Boats over a 250 metre course.

Our boat is called "Rotary to the Rescue” and all monies donated will be going to the Life & Soul Youth Charity in Tunbridge Wells ( Charity number 1099511)

Life and soul has for over 7 years worked within the community of T.Wells and Southborough . They reach out to schools and young people giving advice on both moral and ethical issues, including drugs and sex education. They run a youth club, provide a safe house for woman aged 16-30, organise a local youth music festival, and continue to be active in setting up other community initiatives. The charity workers (ALL volunteers) engage with the youngsters no matter what their backround or religious beliefs. Many of the young people have or had difficult home lives. The "Life and Soul " Cafe Project is coming to fruition. A place for young and old to chat, build relationships and gather advice about life in general. This is where much of the money raised from the Dragon Boat will help. Life and Soul receives very little direct funding, it's revenue is generated by the generosity of the general public. Finally a thank you in advance if you do donate to our chosen charity.

The 2009 event will take place on Saturday 12 September 2009
The Dragon Boat Festival is the largest event of its type inwith 51 teams competing in 10 dragon boats watched this year by around 15,000 spectators. The setting at Bewl Water, Lamberhurst, nearis a perfect backdrop for the event.
