My daughter, Rita, was born in late 2019. During a routine scan at the hospital they found a cyst, which was later thought to be a tumour. As a conquence Rita needed to have an operation to remove the mystery offender at just 5 months old.
In the lead-up to the operation Rita's dad and I spent a lot of time at QMC Children's Hospital and during that time we encountered many families dealing with heartbreaking situations. The bravery, strength and fortitude these families showed was indescribable. But the bravery that really stuck with me was shown by the children, who were going through way more than they deserved, at such young ages.
Ultimately, Rita's cyst was removed and we were able to move past the whole situation and get on with dealing with all the other usual parent worries, free from this huge health concern. All thanks to the Children’s Hospital at the QMC..
On the 17th of September I will be abseiling down the side Nottingham Queens Medical Centre. I'm scared of heights, and I'm definitely not brave, but I wanted to do something to show my appreciation for all the staff at the Nottingham Children's Hospital for all the incredible work they do. I'm definitely going to hate it and I'm certainly going to go on about it for way too long, but hopefully I will raise a little money in attempt to thank those that helped my family through an unbelievably scary and difficult time.
Please donate, and basically force me into doing possibly the worse thing i've ever done on purpose (I realise that's very dramatic, but probably the truth!).
Thank you in advance.
