ROTW XI vs ENG XI · 23 December 2018

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

This December will mark a year since my Mum, Samina, passed after a challenging battle with cancer. She received unbelievable care at the Christie's right until the end. We would very much like to honour the Christie's unparalleled dedication and support to our families, and to thousands like us.

We were inspired by the generosity and support of everyone donating to last year's event. We raised over £2500 for Christie's including gift aid, which is absolutely staggering. We wanted to continue this event and it's legacy for positive change. Just as last year's game was in memory of Jack's late father, Nigel, for this year we decided to play and raise funds in memory of both my Mum and Jack's Dad.

Both Jack and I have been massively affected in recent years by this horrible disease, with the Christie's giving us invaluable support throughout. We very much wish to give something back. All proceeds will be split 50:50 between the Ovarian Cancer Department and Mark Saunders' Colorectal Team, both of which are at the Christie's.

The ENG v ROTW game may have started off as a small game of football,  but over the years it has grown in significance, scale and competitiveness, with the score now firmly at 2-2 in games. The game is open to any and all to watch; Sunday 23rd December Stockport Sport Village, Lambeth Grove, Woodley, Stockport SK61QX - 5.15pm KO.

For any of you who knew Nigel or Samina, or just want to support the boys in contributing to a fantastic cause in a brilliant hospital, any contribution, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. They would be so proud. Thank you.
