The members of Crewe & Nantwich Round Table have been extra busy in the lead up to Christmas, busy planning a safe Covid compliant way in which they can continue to bring Santa to the streets like they have been doing for over 40 years. 

And after much deliberation it was agreed that Santa will be touring the area bringing some much needed joy during these difficult challenging times. But to comply with all UK Government and Charity Commission guidelines it will be sadly have to be quite different to what you’ve seen over previous years. 

So this year everything will be different for obvious reasons. We will not be able to have static town centre collections, we can’t carry out door to door collections, nor can we stop and encourage gathering of people as they would be in breach of both government and charity commission guidelines relating to social distancing.

So whilst we will be out taking Santa to the streets we won’t be able to stop as the float will always have to be moving (slowly) and to maintain social distancing guidelines we won’t be knocking on any doors or collecting any cash donations on the night. The routes have been amended to reflect these changes so please listen for the music and give Santa a wave. 

To counter not being able to collect any cash donations we have set up this online just-giving page for donations to be made and it is hoped that even during what are difficult times for many families that we can raise much needed funds for the local area. 

We have secured some amazingly generous sponsorship from various local businesses so that the costs of actually running the float (insurance, fuel etc) has been covered so all funds raised through our just giving page will go directly to local good causes. Without the support of these 10 local businesses who all shared our view that taking Santa to the streets is absolutely essential the situation may have been a lot worse so I’m sure you’ll join us in thanking them all.

Sadly if for any reason lockdown is extended past the 2nd December in the local area our hands may be tied and we will be unable to take Santa to the streets under any circumstances which we all hope won’t be the case.
