Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My dad has been fit as a fiddle all his life and never been in hospital in 83 years. He felt breathless whilst playing catch with one of my kids on May bank holiday so went to the Dr who found fluid on his lung.
He was put on the NHS cancer pathway, had surgery at Guys in July and was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma in August. This is a microscopic cancer of the lining of the lung caused by exposure to asbestos in the early part of his career on construction sites. It has been dormant for about 50 years and then appears and progresses very quickly.
It’s been an intense journey and I have needed to do something physically demanding to help my own mental health.
The Martlets have been invaluable support as have Hasag and Mesothelioma U.K.
I am hoping that I can keep this going even though we are facing one of the toughest times in our life.
Thank you to https://studiojrl.co.uk for letting me use their rower whilst staying with them!
