Going Bald for Ataxia · 2 December 2014

10,500 people in the UK have ataxia which is a progressive neurological condition that disrupts the messages sent from our brains to our muscles that are used to move, speak, listen and see. Ataxia UK funds research into finding treatments and a cure and provide support until they are found.

Story

Let me tell you about three beautiful people, Lali, Jak and Orlando, who are especially close to my heart. Lali (in the picture above) is my first and bestest friend!

Growing up, their family was a crazy, energetic and active lot. Seven years ago they found out that three of them had Friedrich's Ataxia. This is a muscle degenerating disease that has affected them all from late childhood and will leave them unable to walk by the  time they reach their mid-twenties, along with other symptoms. Since then, Lali, Jak, Orlando and their whole family have lived life with such determination and zeal, never complaining when a new difficulty arises. They are an inspiration to me and  to everyone they meet.

At the moment there is no cure for Friedreich's Ataxia, so please give what you can, whether it be money, prayers or time taken to tell someone about it and so spread awareness. Thank you! xxxx
