Story

The Northern General performed their first Heart Transplant on 11.10.1989.  Our friend John Jackson had a Heart Transplant on 03.05.1991 .  He was given a life expectancy of 7 years but due to the sheer dedication and care given to him by the Cardiology and Transplant Team at the Northern General Hospital, John lived a further 28 years.  This challenge is to raise funds for the Cardiac Transplant Facilities Fund to benefit the work of this exceptional team who still give ongoing care to transplant recipients at the NGH and very importantly to promote Organ Donation so that many more recipients can be given the gift of new life.

About the charity

We help Sheffield’s hospitals, community teams and health and social care services to cover costs their NHS budgets can’t. We fund support for patients and staff, life-changing research and more, so that we can enhance care from birth to the end of life and everything in between.
