The Wales Air Ambulance Charity provides advanced life-saving emergency care for everyone in Wales, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are a ‘mobile emergency department’ that relies entirely on donations to keep our helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our little boy, Ned Rhys Jones, was killed in a road traffic accident on the A470 near Rhayader, on Good Friday, 2016, aged 5 years old. The accident scene was attended by two Wales Air Ambulance helicopters, with one crew trying to save the life of our boy. But despite battling courageously, Ned died at the scene.

Ned was a very happy boy, finding joy in everything and anything. His death has left us devastated and has changed our lives forever. Now most days are a struggle for both me and my wife, and young family. I can't look at photos of Ned without crying and find it difficult to talk about him.

We however want to keep the memory of Ned alive and remember him how he was in his very short life.

I am a member of Aberystwyth Rowing Club and I regularly row on the sea  and I also row on a Concept2 (indoor rowing machine). I will be doing a solo 24 hour row on an indoor rowing machine in aid of Wales Air Ambulance who save so many lives in Wales. I will be attempting to break the world record for my age group (50-59) for the amount of metres rowed in 24hrs on a Concept2 indoor rower - the current record stands at 279,242 metres.

Thank you.
