Story
The inauguration of this foundation was on 23rd January 2009 at Queens Hospital, Romford, with a celebratory clinical symposium on Vasculitis and Scleroderma. This was attended by national and international speakers along with patient support group. Mrs Alavoine did the introduction of her husband and Professor Chakravarty introduced him as a patient whom he had known for over 10 years.
The foundation is aimed for providing research facility including appointment of research personnel in the field of Vasculitis and Scleroderma in collaboration with Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and Royal Free Hospital, London respectively. The patrons of this foundation are Dame Carol Black, Chairman of Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, Dr David Jayne, Director of Vasculitis, Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and Dr Richard Watts, Consultant and Senior Lecturer, University of East Anglia, Ipswich. There is a local committee chaired by Mrs Alavoine, Prof. Chakravarty and Prof. Chris Denton along with a multi disciplinary group of Hospital Doctors, patients and GPs.
This foundation is aiming to develop research interest in these two obscure diseases with collaboration with the centres of excellence.
