Show Racism the Red Card is an anti-racism education charity which utilises the high profile of professional footballers as anti-racist role-models to combat racism in society. We produce educational resources and deliver training events and workshops. For more details please see www.theredcard.org

Story

The recent unjust and brutal murder of George Floyd by 4 Minnesota police officers has sparked outrage across the globe, leading to thousands of BLM protests taking place in order to demand a change in the way people of colour are treated in society. RHUL Women’s Rugby feel that it is only right to play our part in helping to educate ourselves on what hardships people of colour face in modern day society, as well as the institutional racism that has been present for hundreds of years. To do this our club members have chosen to raise money for the charity Show Racism the Red Card. Members will take part in either a run 5k and donate £5 or better educate themselves by reading up on black civil rights and donating their chosen amount to the charity. The club will be documenting our activities on the Royal Holloway women’s rugby social media accounts in order to raise money for the cause.
