On Sunday 11th October I’ll be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon and running 13.1 miles in support of Alzheimer’s Society.

Running has never come naturally to me, so this is by far the biggest physical challenge I’ve taken on. But it’s a challenge I’m proud to do for a cause that means so much to me.

Dementia has affected both sides of my family, and I’ve seen first-hand how devastating it can be to watch someone you love slowly fade away. It’s incredibly difficult for the person living with dementia and for the families around them who are trying to support them.

Dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK, and the number of people being diagnosed continues to grow every year. Despite this, there are still no treatments that can stop or slow the progression of the disease.

That’s why organisations like Alzheimer’s Society are so important. The work they do helps fund vital research, provide support for families, and run local services for people living with dementia.

I’ve set an initial fundraising target of £400, and every donation — no matter the size — will make a real difference. Your support will help Alzheimer’s Society continue their work and move us closer to a future where dementia no longer devastates so many families.
