Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Roz and I are hoping to complete a variety of big events in a super challenge for 2013 in aid of the British Lung Foundation. This is probably the toughest sporting challenge I have ever faced but every penny raised will make the experience that more worthwhile.
The events we have both entered are
April 14th - Brighton Marathon (26.2 mile run)
April 27th - The Swimathon (5000m swim for Nick and a 1500m swim for Roz)
May 11th - The Ridgeway 40 (40mile walk to be completed in under 15hrs)
October 20th - Amsterdam Marathon (26.2 mile run)
In addition to this I am also hoping to complete IRONMAN UK on August 4th , which is the legendary event that involves a 2.4mile swim followed by a 112mile cycle ride finished off with yet another marathon run, all in less than 17hours!
The reason why I am choosing to support the British Lung Foundation is simple. Not only is it a fabulous cause which helps so many people with lung problems to live their lives, but also because it is the charity supported so nobly by the late Harvey Jaquest who was such a leading light in not only the 'Watford Joggers', the running club I love but also to so many in the watford area where I live.
Harvey ran, race-walked and coached hundreds more to run better for decades yet he did this despite suffering from bronchiectasis for most of his adult life. Staff at the Royal Brompton Hospital expertly managed his condition and enabled Harvey to enjoy his sport and to live his life to its full potential.
Hopefully by donating to this charity it will lead to more people like Harvey to live their lives to the full and to make our lives better too.
Dig deep for them, and I will dig deep into my reserves for you. Those who know me well will know that I hardly have the most predicatable set of lungs myself so the cause i am competeing for is all too real for me. I want to do this while I am still able to, not just for myself but maybe to enspire others too, like Harvey did.
