Story
With the recent spell of bad weather and gail force winds we have admitted around 260 Manx Shearwaters, coming in storm blown from the Welsh coast.
The Manx Shearwaters are exhausted after being caught in strong winds and rough seas and are bashed into rocks. They eventually wash up onto beaches and this is when our hard working Inspectors and Animal Collection Officers have been rescuing them and bringing them into West Hatch.
Such incidents put an enormous strain on our resources, on our staff and on our volunteers. Each bird needs to be tube fed four times a day which requires two members of staff. The birds are tube fed fish soup and zoolyte if needed. We are in desperate need of additional supplies to rehabilitate the birds, this includes tubing equipment, zoolyte and fish.
Only with the support of those who give generously to this cause can we continue with the important work we are trained to do.
