West Hatch Seal Appeal · 15 November 2017

Across England and Wales, we're the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - the UK's largest animal welfare charity. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome many animals each year and campaign and educate to prevent animal cruelty. The RSPCA is registered with the Fundraising Regulator.

Story

We currently have 46 seals in care with many more on their way, this is due to the devastation the seals have been experiencing in recent storms where some seal colonies have lost up to 75% of this year's pups. The majority of seals have been admitted suffering serious injuries or are orphans.  Over the next coming months the seals will be rehabilitated at West Hatch until they are fit for release.

So far in this season alone we have admitted 95 seals, a big increase from last year when we admitted 56.

Each seal pup will be rehabilitated at West Hatch for two to three months and during this period we will spend on average £1000 a week on fish to feed them. In addition to the fish costs, the majority of seals will receive a number of veterinary treatments from Metacam, Clinicin, Marbocyl, Noroclav and Rilexine.

We have been overwhelmed with donations from our Amazon Wish List however we are in desperate need of donations to put towards their very expensive fish and veterinary bills. Any donations are extremely appreciated and will come directly to the seals at West Hatch.
