Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge 2023 · 29 April 2023 to 30 April 2023 ·

The RSPCA Isle of Wight is an independently registered Island-based charity which supports the work of the RSPCA at a local community level. Originally established in the 1950s, we fundraise on the Island in order to support its most vulnerable animals.

Story

Hi it's Hannah and Vanessa here!

We have decided to take part in the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge which is taking place on the 29th-30th April. It's a 106km continuous clockwise walk around the Isle of Wight. Walking day and night, up and down hills, thankfully with pit stops along the way.

Last year Vanessa took part in the gruelling challenge with her sister and sadly only Vanessa made it to the end after her sister had to pull out with an injury. Vanessa made it round with all the support and encouragement from the community, her friends and family and made it to the finish line in 36hrs 46mins.

I (Vanessa) asked round to see if anyone else would join me this year and Hannah was the only willing participant -  the willingness may have now wavered as training has started!

We are walking to challenge ourselves and to raise the much needed funds for the RSPCA IOW.

RSPCA IOW holds a piece of our heart, we both work at the Centre in Rookley and we see first-hand the crucial work that the RSPCA IOW carries out and the increasing need for fundraising to enable the centre to keep running.

We will keep you posted on our journey and we hope you will be able to share our passion for animal welfare and the amazing work of RSPCA IOW and help us raise as much money as we can to make a difference!

Thank you for your support and kindness so far - we're going to need our community to help us to keep going!
