RYAN'S PALACE TO PALACE RIDE
Fundraising for The Prince's Trust
Story
A little over 4 years ago I had spent around 18 months out of work with zero motivation or knowledge for getting a job. I was lucky enough to be asked to take part in the Princes Trust Team Program and whilst I had some reservations about joining, I did, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life to date.
Team program didn’t just help me to get a job, it helped me learn to be a better version of myself, how to present myself in professional situations, how to prepare for a job and more importantly helped me to reach a level of self-confidence that I have never experienced before.
Undoubtedly, if it wasn’t for the Princes Trust and Team Program, I would be sat on my sofa today letting life pass me by.
During the work experience section of Team Program, I was sent to work with a national car park operator, Total Car Parks Ltd (TCPL). Using the skills I learnt during Team, I was able to secure a permanent position with TCPL as a Junior Administrator. 4 years and a few promotions later, I now work in business development and I am responsible for the acquiring of new contracts and development of new ideas. I even started a new brand as part of the company “Go Ticketing” (goticketing.co.uk).
I have also recently become a Young Ambassador for the Princes Trust and was given fantastic public speaking training to allow me to tell others about my experience. I have been lucky enough to tell my story in front of many different crowds and groups of young people, to help raise awareness of the Princes Trust and everything it does.
Palace to Palace is my opportunity to give back! I plan to dedicate my free time over the next 6 months to getting in shape to complete the ride and raising as much funding as possible for the Princes Trust.
Thanks to the Princes Trust, I see a positive and innovative future for myself and have ambitions that 4 years ago would have seemed like something from a movie or something that lottery winners experience. I feel privileged to be part of such a selfless and fantastic organisation and I hope to do the Trust proud!
I am just one of thousands of "young" people who are supported by the Trust each year, lets raise as much as possible to help this fantastic cause!
