Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.

I am 8 years old and was born with a rare muscle wasting condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Thankfully, at the moment I can walk and ride my bike with help from my parents. I get very tired and can no longer keep up with my friends. As I get older these things will get more challenging and I will have to rely on using my wheelchair more as my muscles get weaker. My muscles don't repair themselves like normal people.

For this challenge I aim to climb Snowdon. I love hill walking with dad (on his shoulders) he says this will be the last opportunity as I am getting too heavy - and he is getting too old 😉. Planned date is 24/25 September if weather is suitable.

Muscular Dystrophy UK help fund research into this dreadful condition. As DMD is a rare condition they need all the help they can get. Money will be put towards projects such as Gene therapy which will help boys like Ruairi lead a fuller life.
