At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

*UPDATE*

So on Saturday I completed the Lurig Challenge. I could not possibly sell, never mind oversell, how difficult it was. Before I reached the top of the mountain I couldn't understand why anyone would put themselves through this more than once. When someone shouted from behind that he "Felt like Frodo bringing the ring to Mordor." I immediately thought that Frodo had an easier time. Frodo had Sam!... I did eventually make it to the top and as I started my decent, which mostly consisted of sliding down the mountain, I began to really enjoy it and forgot about how difficult it was and will most definitely be doing it again next year. I completed it in around 1 hour. I was hoping for sub 50 mins, the fastest being just under 30, but I severely underestimated it (who even does cardio). Most of all though it was great and I have so far raised £154. Thank you very much to everyone who donated! It is still possible to donate. The Alzheimer's Society is a fantastic charity and I'd be soo grateful for anything from you at all. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am taking part in the Lurig Challenge which takes place each year as part of the Heart of the Glens Festival. The run is on Saturday the 9th of August at 1pm and leaves from the centre of Cushendall. The run is 3.8 miles (6 km) long with 1200ft (375m) of climb up the north face of Lurigethan.

I am raising money for the Alzheimer's Society who do fantastic work in care and research for people with dementia. My grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's disease and it is a terrible affliction. I hope that work done by organisations such as the Alzheimer's Society will help to increase the quality of life of dementia sufferers as well as bring about prevention and in the long term, a cure. I would be very grateful if you could donate even £1 to this cause. Thank you.
