Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for Marie Curie who provide care to terminally ill people and offer support to family and friends. Marie Curie have nine hospices and are the biggest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS.
In July 2013 my best friend Lex was diagnosed with terminal cancer and sadly passed away on the 1st April 2014. What makes it more heartbreaking, Lex was a wonderful mother and left behind two beautiful boys, Ayden (7) and Laith (2).
Lex had a beautiful smile and the warmest of hearts. She was so young, sweet and her life had just begun. Her life was all about the boys, family and friends. Her positivity rubbed off on everyone she met.
On the 18th February it was agreed that Lex was to stay at the Marie Curie Hospice (Solihull, West Midlands) where she would be able to receive 24/7 care. Lex received exceptional care and support from their doctors and nurses.
I was privileged to have spent many weekends with Lex at the Hospice making everlasting memories with her. It became my second home and not only did Lex receive support, but so did family and friends that made the experience that bit easier to manage.
One thing for sure, Lex was a fighter and demonstrated that over the past 8 months. She was incredible how she dealt with the illness, a lesson learnt to us all. She even made it easier for friends to cope with our emotions.
Marie Curie are at the heart of the communities and rely heavily on support from us. One promise I made to Lex was to fundraise money for Marie Curie for the outstanding care which she received.
