I just felt like runnin' - Forrest Gump
Some of you may know, but I took up running in 2018 and ran a few races. I've also had the urge for a number of years now to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society back home in the UK after losing my Granddad to Dementia. Then it hit me... why not run and raise money for this charity.
The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
So throughout 2019, my initial goal is to run 1,000 km (approx. 621 miles) or the equivalent of running from Manchester to Bern in Switzerland (as the crow flies). If I run further, great! If I beat my fundraising goal, even better!
I will be running through out the year, in all seasons, and will only count outdoor running towards the goal (no treadmills, etc.). This will include races (so far 20 planned), parkrun, and training.
If you want to track my progress throughout the year, check out my Strava page https://www.strava.com/athletes/david-hampson and keep up with the kms.
If you decide to help me and donate, thank you very much! Your donations are greatly appreciated.
