Story
Between Monday 4th May to Sunday 31st May I'll be challenging myself to run 2 Marathons (52 miles) in support of the Age UK Coronavirus Emergency Appeal
Having been a previous Carer myself and currently having my Grandma in a care home, I wanted to set myself a personal challenge whilst raising money for those who need support the most.
Age UK are seeing an unprecedented demand for their services and this is only expected to grow over the coming weeks and months. The coronavirus has impacted all of our lives, but it is an especially challenging time for the elderly and their loved ones.
So how will the money raised help?
£10 could enable a local Age UK to deliver services within communities to isolated older people such as vital food supplies, prescriptions and much more
£20 could pay for two weekly befriending calls to self-isolated older people who have no one to turn to, offering much needed comfort and reassurance during these deeply worrying times.
£50 could answer urgent calls to our advice line from vulnerable older people needing information and support on how to cope during this crisis and for many who are not online or facing this emergency alone, the advice line may be all that they have to rely on
By donating to this cause, you will be helping support the people that need us the most. Age UK are working hard to ensure that vital information, advice and befriending services can continue to safely help the elderly through this troubling time.
Most people will feel lonely at some point in their lives. It’s a deeply personal experience that - in most cases - will thankfully pass. Sadly, 2.65m older people feel they have no one to turn to for help and around 3.9m older people consider TV to be their main form of company. Donating to this page will help the national Age UK to continue providing vital services that offer companionship, advice and support for older people facing later life alone.
I'll be aiming to run 2 Marathons (52 miles total) between May 4th and May 31st. I'll be running around the Birstall, Gomersal, Batley and Heckmondwike areas.
Whether you can spare £1 or £20, any donation you can afford will be highly appreciated.
P.s if you want to join in, let me know 😊
