Great Manchester Run 10k 2019 · 19 May 2019 ·

City of Trees is an innovative and exciting movement set to re-invigorate Greater Manchester’s landscape by transforming underused, unloved woodland and planting 3 million trees - one for every man, woman and child who lives there, within a generation.

Story

We're running the Manchester 10K this year to support the work of City of Trees and their goal to plant 3 million trees across Greater Manchester - that's one for every person that lives there!

Trees are all too often overlooked in urban environments, but are a vital part of creating a sustainable city. As well as the benefits they bring to the environment such a improved air quality and helping us mitigate the impacts of climate change, they also reduce stress, increase well-being and bring beauty to our city.

City of Trees is transforming under-used and under-loved woodlands to secure a greener, more resilient future for Greater Manchester.

In a display of solidarity with our beautiful urban trees, we will be partaking in the run dressed as trees!

Running for the trees, as trees!
