Story

Thank you for visiting our Web Page.  A group of friends and collegues,  working together at BP decided to take on the challenge of running the ING Amsterdam Marathon in October 2006 in order to raise money for the Down Syndrome Educational Trust.  Seven of us undertook the run and sucessfully completed it, with times ranging from 3:52 to 5:41, we had a great day and kept post race celebrations to a respectable level !

We have a special interest in this charity as Danny's son, Cole, who was born in April this year has Down Syndrome and attends therapy sessions hosted by the trust.

Down Syndrome is not uncommon, affecting 1 in 700 births. Danny and his wife, Sadie, found it surprisingly difficult to find out about the therapies and teaching strategies that can help children with Down Syndrome to reach their full potential.

This is where the Down Syndrome Educational Trust is able to help, providing advice based on years of working progressively with people with Down Syndrome and collating research from around the world.

We'd be really grateful for any sponsorship that you want to make online. The Down Syndrome Educational Trust is not government funded and relies entirely on charitable donation, and we would like to ensure that it can continue to do the good work that makes so much difference to children and adults with Down Syndrome worldwide.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Down Syndrome Educational Trust (DownsEd) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
