Farleigh Hospice provides hospice care & support to people affected by life-limiting illnesses. With approximately 40% of our annual running costs funded by the local NHS, we rely on the goodwill of the local mid Essex community to contribute to the £21,271 it costs to provide our services each day.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During 2012 I will be doing a few running events, the first of which is the Brentwood Half Marathon on 25th March, to remember my Uncle Ian by raising fund for the charities that looked after him in his final days.  One of these charities was Farleigh Hospice in Chelmsford who also cared for my Nan back in 1996.  Farleigh Hospice now offer home help which allowed my Uncle to stay at home until he passed away.

My Uncle was a lovely chap who unfortunately found out he had Multiple Myeloma Cancer a few years ago.  After a long battle he finally passed away in December 2011.

I used to spend time with my uncle going to watch Spurs who he was passionate about and for which he had 2 season tickets for so he could always take a friend or family member with him.  It was always an entertaining afternoon firstly driving too Tottenham and then watching them from the stands, he would always offer his opinions on how they were playing in a colourful way!  In return he would always call me for a bit of computer advice and I often went round to give a bit of techy help!

My uncle was so brave towards the end of his illness and walked my cousin down the aisle 11 days before he died, I am glad that Farleigh helped him in those last days and gave him the dignity he deserved and allowed his family and friends to be around him in the family home.

Please dig deep and make a donation for this worth while charity, they really do help people as they battle with what has to be one of the worst illnesses you can suffer from.  They also provide so much support for their families.
