Story
I am running a Half Marathon for the first time. I don't like running, but in lockdown I thought running would be a good thing to do for my mental and physical health. I did a couple of runs around 16km, my legs hurt too much and so I gave in. I have never managed close to this distance and all the training guides suggest a minimum of 12 weeks training. I have just over three weeks! What could possibly go wrong? Three weeks, a full time job, a dodgy hip, two Chiropractor appointments booked... oh and I need to buy some new running shoes.
Why? Because children are going hungry. In January 2023, over 13 million people (including 4 million children) in the UK experienced food insecurity. The cost of living crisis is pushing more vulnerable people into poverty every day. FareShare South West is continuing to see an ever increasing demand on services, the situation now is far worse than it was during the Pandemic.
FareShare South West tackle food waste and hunger at the same time. Redistributing high quality surplus food from across the food industry, FareShare South West help charities get vulnerable people get back on their feet while creating a more sustainable food system. For every £1 donated, this is enough to redistribute food for 4 meals to those who need it. Help us feed hungry people while saving it from waste.
Raising £297 will cover the cost of redistributing an amazing half a tonne of food which will be turned into 1,188 meals.
Sponsor me to run (or walk/crawl over the finish line on May 14th).
