YMCA England & Wales works across 688 communities, providing the critical foundations for a fresh, strong start in life. The 375,197 young people we help each year are at the heart of what we do, supported by more than 3,900 members of staff and 1,900 volunteers.

Story

Hey hey and welcome to my JustGiving page!

I am one sixth of Moosey's Mad Marathon Men (MMMM for short).

We want to fundraise in memory of our great friend, Tom 'Moosey' Moulton.

Somehow I've been talked into taking part. Let's clear something up straight away - I'm not a runner. I'll be starting training from scratch with no real experience, those who know me, know I'm better on four (or eight) wheels.

I've got Dan Bush to thank though, it was his big idea, and from two men - we became a team of 6, all running in memory of Moose.

Moose tragically passed away on the 27th July 2015, aged 29. He was one of my best friends, my colleague and housemate. I miss him every day.

By sponsoring me - you will be donating to the work of Southend YMCA and YMCA England, fundraising will be split 50/50.

As a group we will be raising money for three charities in total, to the much underfunded work of Epilepsy Research UK, and to continue Tom’s legacy at Southend YMCA to support homeless young people and for the national movement at YMCA England.

Tom suffered from epilepsy since he was a child but never allowed his condition to let him live anything but a full life. He never wanted to be treated differently and never made a fuss even when he’d been unwell. We want to help the underfunded work of Epilepsy Research UK, in the hope we may be able to support and assist the lives of those that suffer from it.

Housing and the issue of homelessness amongst vulnerable youngsters became a passion for Tom during his time working at Southend YMCA, he recognised the huge need in the area for suitable accommodation. He worked tirelessly to fundraise, increase awareness and housing provision for local young people.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add GiftAid to your donation if you are a UK taxpayer, it will add 25% to your donation at no extra cost.
