So what is Run Every Day in May?
Simplistically it’s a statement of intent, a challenge to get in a run on every single day of the month of May.
With my 40th Birthday looming at the start of June I have been, over the last six months, on a fitness quest that has seen a loss of 25% of my body weight and my 5km time drop from over 34 minutes to 24 min 16 seconds at my last Park Run. As this landmark birthday has drawn closer it’s clearer than ever that I need challenges and to be challenged to be the best me that I can be.
So the rules part:
- I will run at least 3km on every day in the month of May (if weather or other factors require it, this may be on a treadmill or similar apparatus)
- I will average at least 5km per day over the course of the month
- I will average a speed in excess of 10kmph
- I will complete at least one scheduled race (plan is the Henley Half Marathon) during the month
Pretty simple eh! Less so with my 90minute+ each way commute on workdays ☺
I’ve decided to use this challenge to raise some money for a worthy cause and have chosen MIND, the mental health charity who do fantastic work campaigning for better services and support for people experiencing mental health problems.
