Running for Alistair Barnsley Carr

The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon · 20 October 2013 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On April the first, a good friend of mine, Alistair Carr lost his fight with cancer following several months of care and support from Saint Leonards Hospice. Alistair was given help when he needed it most, had the benefit of 24 hour on call medical care and friendly faces always on hand to boost his morale with what I understand were oustanding full english breakfasts.
Cancer is a horrendous disease that effects us all in some way; whether we are suffering from it personally or indirectly through friends or relatives.
I think it of the upmost importance that we continue to support organisations like St Leonards who work to take some of the strain and give dignity and comfort to families facing their darkest hour.Any contributions are gratefully accepted and appreciated.
The photo you can see at the top is of Al and was taken from the university website during our MSc days. It is unusual in that in all the photos I have this is the only one where Al has a straight face. Possibly he thought this was like a passport photo and they wouldn't let him on the course with a smile which is ironic because nobody did a better job of putting a smile on the faces of those involved with the course, staff and students.
For those who remember these heady times I intend to put on a collection of images from the course and the years following which show what a great time we had back then, mostly as a result of Al's enthusiasm and party organising skills (no need for Facebook in them days).
I have a couple of videos / sound recordings that might be of interest too. As soon as I can edit them I'll get those up too.
