Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Manchester 10K on the 21st May to raise money for Stick n Step. Stick n Step is a charity who support children with cerebral palsy through the provision of free weekly conductive education (CE) sessions at their centres in Wallasey and Runcorn. The sessions help children to reach their personal potential in terms of mobility, confidence, and independence. They do not receive any government funding and need to raise £750,000 each year to deliver their services to over 100 families.
One of these such families is ours. Daniel (older twin brother of Ethan) has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and is registered blind, due to a condition called PVL (Periventricular leukomalacia). He started at Stick n Step in September 2021, when most things were still shut due to Covid and the weekly sessions have already changed his and our lives. Daniel loves his 90 minute sessions which work on his head and trunk control, incorporate exercises to help his stiff muscles and include messy play to encourage purposeful movement of his arms and hands. They have also given us as a family so much support, advice and guidance to help us navigate our way through the crazy world of SEND.
