Run for Dementia
Campaign by Alzheimer's Society (RCN 296645)
How many miles can you run in 30 days? Could you take on 50 or 100 miles to help us beat dementia?

Story

As many of my friends and family will know in general (and from my last fundraiser I did in feb for Alzheimer's society) my grandma was diagnosed with dementia over 4 years ago.

Through lockdown she has been in isolation - the only person seeing her was my mum who was her full time carer. This isn’t just my grandma though, millions of older people have been on their own through this horrible time and it’s so so sad. It has been a terribly traumatic time for the whole family as well as for my Grandma obviously. I wish that I could’ve spent the last 6 months spending time with her instead of her being in her flat on her own.

My grandma is now in emergency rest-bite because she can no longer be on her own for any amount of time. I am doing this fundraiser because we need more work put into this disease. It is so so horrible for every single person involved. I hope by even raising a small amount of money for the cause that it can spread more awareness of the disease as well as fund more research.

So - I have probably never ran more than 3km at one time in my life However with uni mostly being online I’ve decided I want to keep active and challenge myself to run 50 miles (80km🤮) in 31 days. I am going to take September to train and then run the 50 miles in October. I’ve set up this page for the fundraiser and I am so dedicated to doing this as it means so much to me. I also managed to quit sugar for 30 days as a fundraiser in February so if I can do that I can do anything right?
