Established in memory of Hector Stringer, who died by suicide at 18, our charity is dedicated to proving suicide is preventable and that help is always within reach. Everyone deserves access to life-saving support. With your help, together we can offer hope and save lives.

Story

On the 20th April 2011 we were all hit with the devastating news that Hector had taken his own life. Hector was a kind and spirited friend who we had all grown up alongside, he was a vibrant part of our tight friendship group.

As we approach the ten year anniversary of Hector’s passing we would like commemorate Hector’s memory and give back to the Hector’s House charity started by Hector’s family. Hector’s House was set up with the aim to prevent suicide and mental health stigma through education, awareness and support.

They offer a fantastic service of supporting those who are struggling with their mental health, providing them with someone to talk to. They also visit schools, clubs and businesses to provide presentations on mental health and run their own campaigns to support their cause.

Starting on the 5th April, 7 friends (Jack, Ali, Charles, Josh, Tazz, Matty & Arthur) will start a running challenge over a 4 week period. We have each set ourselves a weekly KM target that is achievable for each person involved. Our overall target is to get to 700KM by the end of the four weeks.

As Hector was often such a positive, fun individual when in a social situation we weren’t aware of his struggles and couldn’t provide him with the support he desperately needed. We want to raise money to help allow the team at Hectors House continue their work supporting those in need of help with their mental health & tackling the stigma of mental illness in young males.
